Up close and personal

I'm HOT.

no, i'm just plain hot.

yeah, my little escapade has wound down to an end (I did catch sausalito in the end. along with the wine (hic) country) and twentysomething hours of eva-air later - Singapore via taiwan from SF (no inflight entertainment to speak of except perhaps ogling the extremely pretty stewardesses who were, well. okay, to my mind. worth perhaps half an ogle. too busy lamenting the end of my holiday in paradise to really put any effort into it) I'm back in sunny Singapore.

You could fry a cat on the sidewalk here, it's that hot.

Frown. Thought seems to have dried up. I think my brain slows in direct proportion to air temperature.

Actually, I did happen to eavesdrop on some Taiwanese gentleman en route, who were having an animated conversation about Singaporeans and taiwanese people in general, which was less than friendly but rather sadly apt.

One of the bits I shall repeat here since I found it funny was their comment about the food. The food from SF to taipei, in a word, sucked. A two year old could have eaten that "dinner" and still asked for more. I had a grand total of two slices of apple (oh yes, and one quarter slice of grapefruit) for dessert.

From taiwan to Singapore it was a completely different story, with fresh food galore, and fresh spices and herbs and bountiful helpings.

This led the two taiwanese gents behind me to conclude that the food in taiwan is obviously better than in SF.

Doh. Wrong-o. The food in taiwan is CHEAPER than the food in SF. Everything else about EVA air screamed CHEAP (except for the stewardesses, who at least looked classy, but I can't vouch for their expense) from the hand held coffee pots (which they rather dangerously teetered around the plane with) to the fourteen channel audio selection, of which three worked, and one was in english. Lessee, and the grand total of one inflight movie, strangely, only available in english (har? what about the poor mainlanders who were flying?)

After a miserable four days in SF, I've come to the conclusion that food is actually pretty damn good in california.

Oh yeah, and K (best buddy K), I reckon the westside clam chowder is much better than eastside.

Okay think I'll go chat to my mommy for a bit and mebbe get my fingers stomped on a little when she gets around to asking me to play duets onna piano.
